North Carolina has strict and progressive Domestic Violence Laws.
North Carolina has two types of Domestic Violence Laws:
Civil Domestic Violence Laws
and
Criminal Domestic Violence Laws
Restraining orders (DVPO) are often granted in Civil Domestic Violence cases.
A violation of an active Domestic Violence Protection Order can lead to criminal
charges. If Criminal charges are brought, only the State of North Carolina can drop the charges not the alleged victim.
This video covers more information about the North Carolina Domestic Violence process.
